Day 1: Agadir – Taroudant – Taliouine – Foum Zguid – Zagora – Erg Chegaga
On the first day of our 2 days tour from Agadir to Zagora desert, we will depart towards the Sahara Desert. Our first stop is the historic town of Taroudant, famous for its city walls and souks. We’ll explore the town and visit its markets, where we can find local handicrafts and spices.
Following this, we’ll head to Taliouine, known for its saffron production. We’ll learn about the cultivation and harvesting of this spice and have the opportunity to purchase some of the world’s highest-quality saffron.
Following that, we’ll travel through the stunning landscape of Foum Zguid, where we’ll have lunch and enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine.
Furthermore, our journey will take us to the town of Zagora, additionally, we’ll explore its vibrant streets and visit the famous Zagora sign, reminding us of the long journey to Timbuktu.
Eventually, we’ll travel to Erg Chegaga, one of the largest dunes in the Sahara Desert. We’ll reach our desert camp, where we’ll enjoy a traditional Berber dinner and relax around the campfire, listening to traditional music and watching the stars.
Day 2: Erg Chegaga – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Taroudant – Agadir
On the second day, we’ll wake up early to witness the beautiful sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chegaga. After breakfast, we’ll head towards Foum Zguid to explore the town and visit a local market to purchase souvenirs such as traditional Berber jewelry and handicrafts.
As an example, we’ll head to Taznakht, known for its Berber carpets. At a local cooperative, we’ll discover how these carpets are crafted traditionally by skilled artisans. While there, you can also buy souvenirs.
Subsequently, we’ll head towards Taroudant, where we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant, try traditional Moroccan dishes, and explore the town’s historic walls, souks, and palaces. Taroudant is known for its traditional craftworks, especially the intricate pottery and ceramics.
Eventually, we’ll head back to Agadir, stopping at a local restaurant for dinner to enjoy the traditional Moroccan cuisine one last time before our tour comes to an end.
